Our firm's approach to land use planning and development follows the "conservation planning" principle. This principle is based on balance and recognizes the need to maintain the integrity of the natural environment with sustaining economic growth which in some part, relies on physical development.

Our Founder, Marie Poirier, received her Bachelor of Science from Brock University, where she continued as an active member on the Alumni Board for many years. After beginning her planning career in the Niagara\St. Catharines area, and with a passion for Land Use Planning and Development, Marie established her successful professional planning consultancy in Muskoka. As a respected member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners. Marie's career spanned over forty years of time, with the current MP Planning & Associates consultancy as the jewel in her crown.

Eva Kerzel

An Office and Operations Manager at MP Planning & Associates with over 12 years experience in purchasing for a large scale Jewellery manufacturer in Toronto. Subsequently working as a Licenced realtor in Muskoka for 8 years, assisting in well over 150 purchases and sales. A background in business led to the current position of Office and Operations  Manager. The proud Mother of two girls and a lifelong Cottager to the area, Eva is well suited to meet all the needs of the job.

With over 10 years of administrative and Customer Service experience, Amber is well rounded for her position coming from a previous role of an Administrative Assistant in the architectural field. Married to a contractor and raising my 3 beautiful children in Muskoka, where I was born and raised.

Amber works with MP Planning & Associates and considers herself lucky to be involved with clients and their files. She loves assisting Planners in any way she can, and helping clients reach their goals

Maeve Crowne, B.A.Sc, Planner

Maeve holds a Bachelor of Applied Human Science in Environmental Governance and a certificate in Sustainability from the University of Guelph. She has a passion for sustainable land use, environmental, social governance (ESG), and proactive community planning.

Prior to joining the MP Planning & Associates team as a Planner, she worked in a variety of environmental management roles with public employers, including the Town of Oakville, Ontario Parks, and consulted for private clients in the mining and infrastructure development sector.

Maeve is looking forward to contributing to the current and future land use of the greater Muskoka landscape, and enjoys her comfortable life in the Town of Huntsville and all it has to offer.

Peter B Hungerford, MCIP, RPP

A land-use planner with over 47 years of professional experience in both the public and private sectors, applying his education, experience and knowledge in the fields of land use planning and development, economic development and corporate strategic planning. After earning a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Urban Planning from Ryerson University as a member of the inaugural graduating class, and as a Registered Professional Planner and career-long member of both the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, he worked for over 44 years in the public sector for Brampton, Lambton County and the City of Sarnia and it’s legacy entities. Positions held during this tenure included the Director of Planning and Development, the Director of Policy Planning, retiring after 21 years as the Director of Economic Development and Corporate Planning. Following retirement from public service, He has practiced in the private sector, both as a project and planning consultant, and as the Managing Principal Planner with MP Planning & Associates. During his career, he has acquired an expertise in the application of planning legislation, official plans, zoning bylaws, and a full range of agreements (e.g. Development Charges, Development, Site Plan and Subdivision) associated with the acquisition, servicing and development of lands.

Peter has been married to his lovely wife Katherine, for over 47 years and they have 2 sons and three grandchildren with whom they enjoy spending their time on Raven Lake.

Ernest Yeung, Planner, B.Sc.

Ernest holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science degree from Queen’s University and a post-graduate certificate in Environmental Planning from Fleming College.

Prior to joining MP Planning, he had been working in the public sector as a Planning and Permitting Assistant at the Kawartha Conservation Authority. He reviewed a variety of land development applications, focusing on aspects with regard to Natural Heritage Features, Natural Hazards, and Conservation Authority Regulations, and assisting the public in acquiring the required development permit.

Currently working on the candidacy for becoming a registered professional planner, Ernest has completed a wide range of Planning applications, Municipal/Crown land disposition & acquisition applications, as well as the preparation of various development drawings for the Firm over the past 4 years working in the private sector with MP Planning.
